About Us

Meet the Owner

Daena Netti graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.F.A in Metals & Jewelry Design where she found a passion for sustainable jewelry. Her Undergraduate Thesis focused on the dichotomy between the Victorian desire for opulent jewelry and the rise of industrialism. While she created original pieces to illustrate this relationship, it created a passion for refurbishing vintage jewelry.  Daena went on to complete her M.S. in Art Education. She now resides in Buffalo, NY where she works full-time as a middle school art teacher while running Verdant Vintage, making original artworks, gardening, and writing poetry.

Unique, Sustainable, & Attainable

Verdant Vintage is Sustainable, Affordable, and Attainable.

Verdant means deep green in color, rich with plant life, and vibrant. As our name suggests, Verdant Vintage believes in protecting the environment by committing to sustainability and renewal.

Fine jewelry is not a sustainable practice; not in materials, labor, energy, nor any other means of production. Each of our environmentally conscious practices work to lower the cost to the consumer, our business, as well as the Earth. Continue reading if you wish to learn about some of these practices:

  • Making Old Items New to You: We reduce the production of new products with each used piece we buy. These items already exist, the resources already used. Giving an item a new life leaves a much smaller carbon footprint than buying something brand new.
  • Shopping Local and Shopping Small: The Verdant Vintage prides itself in sourcing materials and inventory from both local and nationwide small businesses. No “handmade” Etsy jewelry here.
  • Network for the Earth: Through internet sales and consignment shops, we network with other sustainability-minded people both locally and around the world.
  • Reduce & Reuse: Packaging is often used more than once. Let’s lower our carbon footprint and our cost.  Running an environmentally conscious business and lifestyle means carefully considering each part of our process, not just material waste.
